Washington County Fair!

This past Saturday we were able to enjoy a pleasantly busy family day of fun. In the morning we took David for a little hike at the nearby Jenkins estate and after nap time we headed over to the fair in Hillsboro. I knew he would enjoy seeing all of the animals from his storybooks, but didn't even think about how he would react to anything else. He had plenty of practice pointing out chickens, cows, sheep, bunnies, ducks, etc. and making their accompanying noises.

David also loved watching people screaming on the carnival rides- he would just stare incredulously at them and then look at us and point at them and babble away as if we should maybe do something about it.

On our way out we stopped and let David check out the tractors that were on display- this could very easily have been his favorite part of the day. He loved pretending to drive them and then pointing to one after the other saying "another tractor! please? please?" He tried out almost all of them and thoroughly enjoyed himself.

k*In case you notice the little red mark on his cheek, slightly sad story...David was driving his little ride-on car around the house, Ross was out in the backyard and I stepped outside. I didn't think, being the cautious little man that he is, that he would try to drive it over the edge- he's always gotten off of it before...but he did. And he crashed. He now has a sad little bruise on his cheek, but I suppose he learned not to do that again!
